Physical Traits
An apple head Chihuahua has a small body and a big head. Apart from that, the eyes of the dog are dark and the hair can vary from long to short. The color can also vary. A Chihuahua can come in fawn, black, white, cream, chocolate and golden color. The height of an apple head Chihuahua can vary from 6 inches to 9 inches depending on the genes. An apple-head Chihuahua is also prone to eye disorders which are genetic. Apart from that, their eyes being so big can get injured very easily. So make sure you take care of the dog when it is around people as children can poke their eyes or unintentionally injure them.
Feeding
An apple-head Chihuahua has similar eating habits as that of a regular Chihuahua. It needs a half cup serving during every meal. If you are giving food to your Chihuahua in the morning and in the night, then give them a half cup of food every time. But food is not enough. This breed is very energetic and gets tired very fast. So make sure you provide them with plenty of water throughout the day so that they can function easily. Also, make sure that the food and water you provide is fresh as contaminated food and water can have the same effect on them as it has on human beings.
And if the dog is not eating the food, then book an appointment with a vet to deal with this problem.
Apart from that, apple-head Chihuahuas come in two types as we discussed before. So if you have a long-haired Chihuahua then you should brush its hair at least twice a week to keep the hair healthy and prevent matting in the hair. Use a bristle brush that is soft. If you have a short haired Chihuahua then the work is easy. All you have to do is brush your dog once a week and you are good to go.
But make sure you arrange a bathing session of your dog frequently because dogs are known to stink when not bathed for a long time.
